Every patient who comes to Kind Eyes has a different story — a different reason, a different journey, and a different moment when things started to feel okay again. Here are some of the experiences our patients have shared with us.
So I was 2 when I was diagnosed with ‘Retinoblastoma’ a very aggressive cancer tumour that affects the eyes.
The tumour was very close to spreading to my brain and it had already spread within my right eye, affecting the optical nerve all the muscles behind it and the whole Eye itself, meaning that I had to undergo a full ‘Enucleation’, this involved the full removal of my right eye. 😞😢
Through this experience I have suffered lifelong judgement, horrific bullying which leaves me with low self-esteem low confidence.
The fact that I have had a history of such a poorly made prosthetic eyes gives me severe anxiety, where I struggle in social situations and in fact anything that involves eye contact.
I have had a few made by and a couple of different hospitals, and other occulairsts unfortunately none that can match my Healthy eye. Until I found Lorna and ‘kind eyes’ prosthetics
Lorna is Literally absolutely AMAZING!!!!!!!
She is Extremely kind, caring, professional and wonderfully talented. She made me feel so comfortable and she is so easy to talk to and really takes pride and passion in her work.
I had to take my youngest 3 year old to all my appointments and Lorna was so accommodating and playful with him he enjoyed coming along to my all appointments as Lorna was really great with him.
Lorna listened intently and was sympathetic with everything I shared with her about my past experiences and my preferences for a new prosthetic.
She took the time to sit and talk and explain everything to me and I had full peace of mind going forward.
Honestly the best decision I’ve ever made was choosing Lorna and ‘kind eyes’ prosthetics. My only regret is not finding this wonderful woman sooner.
Lorna was even very understanding if my personal financial situation and made things very easy for me .but she is absolutely worth every penny and more !!
In my opinion she is the best ocularist ever !
I would highly recommend Lorna and her uniquely talented services without a shadow of a doubt you will not regret it. I now have the confidence to face the world with first class eye I am over the moon with and this all because of Lorna.

"An expert and an artist. Lorna is amazing at what she does. I've been through this before when I was younger so I know the process. I can honestly say that I was blown away by the process and the result. The process was so easy, and Lorna wanted to spend every moment getting it to fit right and feel right. She also guided me through the whole process advising me using her experience. I got to wear a test prosthetic for a bit as I was worried about finding it uncomfortable. We spent multiple sessions getting the fit right. She's good at taking out the prosthetic and putting it back in without hurting you. When it came to painting she spent so much time perfecting it. I spent a whole afternoon with her while she got the colour exactly right. It's honestly a work of art. I've had so many compliments. Much better in every way than the one I got when I was younger."

"If the purpose of a prosthetic eye is to fool all of the people all of the time, then the prosthesis crafted for me by Lorna truly fulfils its purpose. The creation of an ocular prosthesis is a painstaking process of careful observation, technical skill and talented artwork. Lorna brings great expertise and a wealth of experience to every stage of the process. She has provided me, an almost lifelong wearer of an ocular prosthesis, with what without doubt is my most cosmetically impressive prosthesis. Even opticians have asked me to close one eye and read the card, at which point I have to explain that one eye is in fact a prosthesis. Lorna is not only thoroughly professional in her work but also extremely caring in dealing with clients. In her consulting room she engages to understand wearer needs and concerns, and beyond the consulting room is always available to help with advice or to determine if and when a follow-up consultation is required. Her attention to aftercare has ensured for me total wear comfort. Her approach is kind, her work a top-end prosthetic eye."
